Since the 1st foreign Symposium on Superconductivity (ISS '88) used to be held in Nagoya, Japan in 1988, major advances were accomplished in a variety of extreme temperature superconductivity examine. even supposing the T c's of lately came upon oxide superconductors nonetheless don't exceed the list excessive price of 125K said ahead of that assembly, the enrichment within the number of fabrics may still turn out important to the research of the basic mechanism of superconductiv ity in those unique fabrics. the invention of the n-type superconducting oxides proved to oppose the formerly held empirical proven fact that the cost providers in all oxide superconductors have been holes. moreover, optimization of the cost provider density has been validated as a strategy to enhance the superconducting right ties of the formerly identified oxide fabrics. Many new experimental and theoreti cal advances were made in knowing either the elemental and the utilized facets of extreme temperature superconductivity. during this latter region, a number of new processing options were investigated, and the serious present densities and different major parameters of either bulk and skinny movie oxide superconductors are speedily being enhanced. At this interesting level of study in hot temperature superconductivity, this can be very very important to supply a chance for researchers from undefined, academia, govt and different associations worldwide to freely trade details and therefore give a contribution to the extra development of research.

In the metallic state adjacent to xc, Tc is apparently at maximum as soon as magnetic order has disappeared. A further increase of x also reduces Tc. 3. A similar phase diagram has been obtained for an organie material under external pressure [15] and we illustrate this in fig. 4. Sensitivity to chemical composition is also apparent in oxide superconductors of the type Bal-xMxBil-yNy03 where M and N are alkali metals and Pb or Sb, respeetively [16,17). Instead of a tendeney to magnetism, these compounds are elose to structural instabilities.

Thls strong conelusion implies. however. that thc scallng funetion for thc pinning forees is universal. in apparent eontradietion to the eonelusions in Refs. 9 and 10. We therefore suggest that the universal behavior exhibited in Fig. 4 is limited to eeramic and powder materials. It is' not elear to us whether this universal behavior refleets some intrinsic common meehanism for pinning 01' that it :is a mere refleetion of the inevitable averaging over grain sizes and orientations. In an effort to explore the relevanee of this last point we are now studying the magnetization eurves of YBCO single erystals.
