Assuming that the input–output training patterns have been obtained and the initial value of the antecedent parameters (aij , bij , and cij ) have been determined. Step 1. Set n ¼ 1, where n denotes the learning epoch. Step 2. The consequent parameters dkl are updated using the least-squares optimization algorithm described in Sect. 3. Step 3. The outputs of the NF filter are calculated using the new consequent parameters and the result of the objective error function can be obtained. Step 4. If the result of the objective error function is less than the predefined threshold or the maximum number of learning epoch is reached, the learning procedure stops.
Each neuro-fuzzy filter is a first order Sugeno type fuzzy inference system with 4-inputs and 1-output. The proposed impulse noise filter consists of two modes of operation, namely, training and testing (filtering). As demonstrated by the experimental results, the proposed filter not only has the ability of noise attenuation but also possesses desirable capability of details preservation. It significantly outperforms other conventional filters.
